Staff of the Ohio State Nanotech West (NTW) Lab and the Institute for Materials and Manufacturing Research (IMR) have won a major Ohio Third Frontier and Ohio Development Services Agency Program that will partner OSU with Ohio industry to create high-tech jobs in the State.
The $2.54M / 3 year award, announced two weeks ago, will form the Ohio Sensor and Semiconductor Innovation Platform (OSSIP). The initial industrial partners in the program are L-3 / Cincinnati Electronics of Mason, OH, and SRICO of Columbus, OH. The partnership with L-3/CE will develop new high-definition infrared (IR) focal plane arrays, and the work with SRICO will develop new sensors based on electro-optic modulators (EOM) and EO materials. A specific goal of the program is that new products be commercially marketed within the 3 years of the program.
The Principal Investigator (PI) of the program is Dr. Robert J. Davis, Director of NTW and also an IMR Associate Director. Co-PIs of the program are Prof. Steve Ringel, Director of IMR, and Dr. John Carlin, Associate Director of NTW.
Congratulations to the team and to the entire Nanotech West community for forming the nucleus of an Innovation Platform that attracted the program.
