Robert Davis, Ph.D.Director
Ph: 614-292-7309 Robert J. Davis joined Nanotech West in September 2005 as the new Director for Operations. Davis has twenty years of experience in micro- and nanofabrication as applied to high-speed semiconductor devices, electro-optical devices, and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). Prior to his arrival at Ohio State he was at TriQuint Semiconductor Texas, where at different times he managed the Process Engineering photolithography and e-beam lithography teams. As head of lithography, his fourteen-member group had responsibility for numerous lithography tools in a military- and space-qualified fabrication line. Prior to joining TriQuint, he was Associate Director of the Nanofabrication Facility at Penn State University and a member of the faculty of the Engineering Science and Mechanics Department, and in addition was part of the Penn State Applied Research Laboratory. Davis has also been a Visiting Scientist at the IBM Yorktown Heights Research Division and the Max-Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany. He also was previously part of the EE Department at Columbia University. Davis holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Cornell University where he studied under Prof. Ed Wolf, who was director of what is now the Cornell Nanofabrication Facility. He has published nearly thirty papers in refereed journals ranging from MEMS, advanced plasma etching and associated damage, advanced semiconductor lasers, and e-beam nanolithography. His former graduate students from Penn State and Columbia can be found at Intel, Maxim Semiconductor, NIST, startup companies, and Wall Street, NYC. He is a member of the American Physical Society, the IEEE, and the American Vacuum Society. |
